The Economics of Obituaries

I finally finished a new paper on the Economics of Obituaries. The original idea came quite some time ago, in  2003 , following the death of FIAT’s Gianni Agnelli. I wrote this column on lavoce.info at the time.
Developments in technology (Machine Learning, Web Scraping, Large Language Models) and the work of my two young co-authors, Pietro Lazzaretto and Raffaella Intinghero, made this possible. I hope you enjoy (at least the intro).  Particular thanks to Giulio Trigilia and Graziano Moramarco.
